Camden Siegel Obituary HARTFORD/WEST HARTFORD, CT — Camden Siegal, a 17-year-old senior at Hall High School in West Hartford, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, two days after he was struck by gunfire in downtown Hartford. He was remembered by family, classmates, and coaches as a gifted student, dedicated athlete, and profoundly kind young man whose life was tragically cut short.
Siegal was caught in the crossfire of a shooting early Sunday morning, February 22, on Ann Uccello Street near PeoplesBank Arena while waiting for an Uber to return home from an evening out with friends. Police say he was not believed to be the intended target of the gunfire. After sustaining critical injuries, he was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday evening.
A standout student and multi-sport athlete, Camden excelled both in the classroom and on the field. He earned Central Connecticut Conference All-Academic honors in both soccer and lacrosse, and was widely respected for his leadership, loyalty, and generous spirit. Coaches described him as “a true joy to coach,” praising his teamwork, quiet strength, and unwavering encouragement for his teammates.
Beyond athletics, friends and family remember Camden for his deep love of animals — especially his four dogs and cat — and the strong bonds he shared with his brother, Hayden, and his close circle of classmates. His obituary notes that his friendships “were built on loyalty, trust and countless unforgettable memories.”
Camden’s legacy of kindness extended beyond his life. In a final act of compassion, he donated his organs to help others in need, a decision his family described as “a reflection of his generous spirit.”
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Emanuel Synagogue Sanctuary in West Hartford, with interment following at Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery in Wethersfield. The service was livestreamed to allow members of the broader community to pay their respects.
In the wake of his passing, Camden’s family established the Camden Siegal Memorial Fund, aimed at supporting academic and athletic scholarships in his honor. Community groups have also planned tributes recognizing his life and spirit.
Hartford police and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection continue their investigation into the shooting, which remains active, urging anyone with information to come forward.
