Tayvon Davontay Watson Obituary MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI — The Muskegon Heights community is grieving the loss of Tayvon Davontay Watson, age 15, who passed away on February 24, 2026, after sustaining fatal injuries in a shooting incident. Watson’s vibrant spirit, bright smile, and warm personality made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Born on May 25, 2010, in Muskegon, Michigan, Tayvon was known among family and friends as a funny, outgoing young man who loved to make people laugh and always sought the best out of life. He was a tenth-grade student and a member of the AYB basketball team, where his leadership and enthusiasm brought joy to teammates and classmates alike.
Watson enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing video games — especially 2K — and creating music videos. He loved shopping, joking around, and play-wrestling with his cousins, always bringing laughter and life to every gathering. His radiant personality and confident spirit drew people toward him, and he naturally became a leader among his peers.
Tragically, Tayvon’s life was cut short when he was shot on the evening of February 24 in Muskegon Heights. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries at Trinity Health Partners – Mercy Campus. His passing has left his community and loved ones in deep sorrow.
Tayvon is survived by his parents, Pierre Watson Sr. and Teba Summers; his sister, Nikia Watson; his brothers, Kieshon Watson and Pierre Watson Jr.; his grandmother, Betty Watson; his great-grandmother, Louise Summers; his nephew and niece; and a devoted circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will carry his memory forward.
Family members recall Tayvon not just for his humor and charm, but for his perseverance and unwavering spirit — qualities that touched everyone he met. “His laughter, his leadership, and his smile will never be forgotten,” one family member shared.
Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Doris Morton Chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with public viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. Loved ones and community members are invited to honor Tayvon’s life and legacy.
